Ruislip's semi-detached houses were mostly built with modest rear gardens and paved areas close to the kitchen, and ants nesting under that paving trail straight to the nearest food source through gaps around the back door once spring arrives.
Larger gardens around Northwood
Northwood's bigger plots and mature borders give ants more nesting ground to establish in — along patio edges, under sheds and beside garden walls — and a trail here can run further from nest to kitchen than in Ruislip's tighter gardens.
Signs to Look For
- A steady trail of ants heading to and from a food source
- Small mounds of fine soil near patios, paving or skirting boards
- Ants appearing around windows, doors or kitchen units, especially in warm weather
- Winged ants indoors, which can signal a nest close by
