About Bedbugs

Adult bedbugs are reddish-brown, flattened, oval, and wingless. Bedbugs have microscopic hairs that give them a banded appearance. Adults grow to 4–5 mm in length and 1.5–3 mm wide. Newly hatched nymphs are translucent, lighter in color and become browner as they mouth and reach maturity.

Bedbugs use pheromones to communicate regarding nesting locations, attacks, and reproduction.

The life span of bedbugs varies by species and is also dependent on feeding.

Bedbugs are (bloodsucking) insects. Most species feed on humans only when other prey is unavailable. Bedbugs are attracted to their hosts primarily by carbon dioxide, secondarily by warmth, and also by certain chemicals.

A bedbug pierces the skin of its host with two hollow feeding tubes. With one tube it injects its saliva, which contains anesthetics, while with the other it withdraws the blood of its host. After feeding for about five minutes, the bug returns to its hiding place.

Although bedbugs can live for a year without feeding, they normally try to feed every five to ten days. In cold weather, bedbugs can live for about a year; at temperatures more conducive to activity and feeding, about 5 months.

“ Our loft space was taken over by a family of squirrels which seemed to have moved in from Clapham Common. At first we were quite happy to host these visitors, until things started going wrong. We woke up on Tuesday morning to a freezing cold house and no lights upstairs. We called out a plumber, but he couldn’t find a fault having checked the whole heating system and put it down to an electrical issue. We contacted our regular electrician. He found the problem, squirrels had chewed through several cables which led to us not having any working lights upstairs and no power getting to the boiler. He recommended we contact Pest Control London24 having previously encountered their workmanship. The pest engineer gave us 2 options for removing the squirrels, we opted for the trapping option as it seemed quite humane and the quickest removal option. All the squirrels were caught within 3 days and the entry hole subsequently closed to stop more from invading our home. Overall I was very happy with the service this company provided. They came to us on the same day, and the engineer was very knowledgeable and answered our questions. The removal worked to the T how he said it would. A very useful service indeed.”

“ We had our flat treated for a mouse infestation about a month ago. Within days the mice were gone and thankfully we’ve not seen a sign of a mouse since. I’m about to have a baby in two weeks, so we decided to have our flat mouse proofed as well. The proofing was done on Friday. I was amazed how thorough the team was. The went through literally every square inch of entire flat, moving furniture, and even going into cupboards. In the kitchen they went into, under and behind the units. They even removed our integrated cooker and fridge units to get to holes in the wall behind. They really left no stone unturned in the pursuit of entry points or possible entry holes. They left our flat spotless having cleaned up as they worked. Having witnessed how thorough they were, I am extremely confident there is no way mice could ever get in again.
