Rat Control Barnet
Barnet has more open brook than almost any London borough. Dollis Brook, Silk Stream and Pymmes Brook give rats a route through gardens that back onto them, well away from any drain fault.
Barnet is the second-largest London borough by population and one of the greenest, and it takes more pest control work than most. Pest Control London 24 covers the whole of it — houses, flats, landlords and commercial premises — from Childs Hill in the south to Totteridge and Arkley at the top.
Everything on this page is priced and published: rodents, wasps, bed bugs, fleas, cockroaches, ants, squirrels, carpet moths, carpet beetles and spiders, with rodent proofing for the gaps they came in through. Call 0800 955 2347 and tell us what you have found.
Our office is at 23A Walm Lane in Willesden Green, a few miles south-west of the borough, and Barnet is a regular run rather than an occasional one. It is also the second-largest London borough by population and one of the greenest, and both of those show up in the work.

Dollis Brook, Silk Stream and Pymmes Brook run in the open through much of Barnet, and that is unusual for London. Rats travel along watercourses, so a garden backing onto a brook can have a steady rat problem with nothing wrong on the property at all.
It matters because the answer is different. A rat coming up a broken drain under a terrace is a drainage repair. A rat coming off a brook corridor is about what is drawing it up the garden and how it is getting into the building, and no amount of drain work will touch it.

Finchley, Mill Hill, Edgware and Whetstone are largely 1920s and 1930s semi-detached houses built out along the Northern line. They have generous lofts, deep eaves, open soffits and mature gardens, which is close to ideal for squirrels and for wasps.
Loft work is the bulk of what we do in this part of the borough, and the roofline is usually where it starts — a lifted tile, a rotted soffit board, or the gap where a later extension meets the original roof.

Colindale is the densest new housing in Barnet, on and around the old aerodrome site, and it is still being built. Blocks of this kind share refuse chutes, service risers and warm pipework runs, and those are the routes cockroaches and mice use between flats.
One flat is almost never the whole picture here. A treatment that stops at the front door of the flat that reported it tends to be back within the season, which is why we ask about the neighbours and the bin store before quoting.

Totteridge, Arkley and the top of Mill Hill sit against farmland, paddocks and golf courses. That edge brings its own pattern: field mice moving indoors as the weather turns, wasp nests in outbuildings and stables, and squirrels with an unbroken run of trees to work along.
Properties out here are also the ones most likely to have a garage, a summerhouse or a stable block that nobody has looked inside since spring, which is where a nest gets to full size without anyone noticing.
Eleven services, each with its own Barnet page: what the signs look like, which part of the borough tends to get it, and what it costs.

Barnet has more open brook than almost any London borough. Dollis Brook, Silk Stream and Pymmes Brook give rats a route through gardens that back onto them, well away from any drain fault.

Mice do well in the flats above the shops along Finchley Road, Ballards Lane and Burnt Oak Broadway, where a shop below and a flat above share the same voids.

The big interwar semis in Finchley, Mill Hill and Edgware have deep eaves and generous lofts, which is where most Barnet nests are found. One fixed price, with our 30-day guarantee.

Bed bugs turn up in the new blocks at Colindale and in the shared houses around the Northern line stations, so we ask how many rooms are affected before booking.

Barnet's long back gardens and high rate of pet ownership make fleas a regular call, particularly after a tenancy ends and the carpet is left to hatch out.

Cockroaches follow warm service risers and refuse chutes through the newer high-density blocks, so one flat is rarely the whole picture.

Deep suburban gardens with patios, decking and compost heaps put ant nests right against the back of the house, and the kitchen door is the way in.

Barnet is one of the greenest boroughs in London. Mature gardens backing onto Totteridge Fields, Arrandene, Oak Hill Wood and the golf courses give squirrels a branch onto the roof.

The larger period houses of Hampstead Garden Suburb and Totteridge hold wool carpets and rugs in rooms that are rarely disturbed, which is exactly what carpet moths need.

Carpet beetles come in from birds' nests in the eaves, and Barnet's interwar roofs with open soffits give them plenty to nest in.

Autumn brings house spiders indoors from the gardens and outbuildings, most noticeably in properties on the green belt edge.
The published price is the price, whether the job is in a Colindale flat or a house on Totteridge Lane. Nothing on this list changes with the postcode.

In Barnet most nests are in the deep eaves, soffits and lofts of the interwar semis, or in an outbuilding on the green belt edge that nobody has opened since spring. Treatment is £90 fixed price — and if the nest is still active within 30 days, we come back at no extra cost.
Rodent proofing is £180 for up to one hour for small holes. It is the job that follows a treatment: closing the accessible gaps that let rats or mice in, so the next one cannot use the same route.
Across Barnet's interwar housing that usually means cracked air bricks feeding a suspended floor, the hole where a waste pipe or boiler flue passes through the wall, and the gap under a back or garage door.

Covering every part of the London Borough of Barnet.
The map is provided by Google and only loads when you ask for it.
Rodents, wasps, bed bugs, fleas, cockroaches, ants, squirrels, carpet moths, carpet beetles and spiders — and rodent proofing to close up the way they got in.
£190 if it is a flat, £240 if it is a house. The property type sets the price, not the area.
It is — £190 for a flat and £240 for a house.
One fixed price of £90, whatever the size of the nest or how high it is, and if the nest is still active within 30 days, we come back at no extra cost.
£220 for the first room and £120 for every room after it, which is why we ask how many are affected before booking.
£180 for the first room, then £60 a room. Most Barnet jobs are a couple of rooms and the hallway.
£190 in a flat, £240 in a house. Commercial kitchens are quoted per site.
£190 in a flat and £220 in a house — slightly less than rodents, because the work is usually more contained.
£280 for the trapping service. It is a different job from a rodent treatment, so it is priced on its own. Barnet generates more of these than most boroughs.
All three are £180 for the first room and £60 for each room after that.
All of it. The area pages below are Finchley, Hendon, Golders Green, Edgware, Mill Hill, Friern Barnet, Whetstone, Totteridge, Colindale, Burnt Oak and Childs Hill — and we cover the Barnet side of places that straddle the boundary, such as Childs Hill, East Finchley and Burnt Oak.
No — our office is at 23A Walm Lane, NW2 5SH, in Willesden Green, which is in Brent. Barnet is a few miles north-east of it and a regular run for us, but we would rather say where we actually are than claim a Barnet address.
Yes — the whole borough, from Childs Hill and Golders Green in the south up to Totteridge, Arkley and High Barnet. The area pages below are the parts we are asked for most often.
Barnet has long stretches of open brook — Dollis Brook, Silk Stream and Pymmes Brook — and rats use those corridors to move between gardens. If your garden backs onto one, the problem is very often the corridor rather than anything on your own property, which changes how it gets treated.
It is one of the busier ones, yes. Barnet has a great deal of mature tree cover and a lot of 1930s roofs with accessible soffits, and those two together are what puts squirrels in a loft.
Tell us what you have seen, what sort of property it is, how many rooms are involved and your Barnet postcode, and we will come back to you with the price and what the treatment involves.
