Pest Control in Wembley's Blocks of Flats
Living in a large block changes how a pest problem behaves. The building is one connected structure, and what happens in the bin store, the risers or the flat two floors down can end up in your kitchen.
Bin stores and refuse chutes
Communal bin rooms are the first place rats and mice find food in a big development. A split bag or an overflowing container on a busy weekend is enough, and on event days the streets around the stadium carry far more food waste than usual. If you see droppings or gnawed bags in the bin store, report it to the building management as well as mentioning it to us.
Risers, ducts and shared walls
Modern blocks carry water, heating and cables between floors in vertical risers. For cockroaches and bed bugs these are motorways. German cockroaches in particular move along warm pipework, so a treatment confined to one flat can be undone by an untreated neighbour. Who arranges treatment?
In a rented flat, start with your landlord or letting agent. In a leasehold flat, problems in communal areas are normally the managing agent's responsibility, while inside your own flat it is usually yours. Older Wembley
Away from the new buildings, the streets around Wembley Central and Ealing Road have the same issues as the rest of Brent's older housing: mice in terraces, rats from drains and gardens, and wasps nesting under the eaves in summer.
