What Rodent Proofing Covers
The service is for small, accessible entry points that can be sealed within an hour. It is designed to follow treatment, closing off the routes rats and mice have been using so a new arrival does not find the same way in.
Typical entry points
- Gaps around pipes and cables where they pass through walls and floors
- Holes behind and under kitchen units, including behind the kickboards
- Worn or gapped door thresholds
- Damaged or missing air brick covers
- Gaps where boxed-in pipework meets the floor
How big a gap matters
A mouse can get through a hole about the width of a pencil; a young rat through one not much larger than a thumb. The gaps that matter are often far smaller than people expect, which is why they get missed.
What proofing does not cover
Structural repairs, drain repairs and large holes need a builder or a drainage contractor. If rats are coming from a broken drain, the usual fix is a repair or a one-way rat blocker fitted by a drainage specialist after a CCTV survey. We will tell you if what you need is outside the one-hour service.
Before or after treatment?
Usually after. Sealing every gap while rodents are still inside can trap them in walls and floors. Once activity has stopped, proofing locks the property down.
