Why You See Them in the Kitchen
German cockroaches like a steady warm temperature and a little moisture, so they gather near the motors of fridges and freezers, behind dishwashers and washing machines, in microwaves and in the dark void behind kitchen plinths. - Switch the kitchen light on after dark and note where they run: under the oven, behind the fridge, into the sink cupboard
- Keep food, pet food, rice and flour in sealed containers and clear the worktops every night
- Dry the sink and fix drips, because a damp cupboard draws them as much as crumbs do
- Do not spray or use a fogger, which scatters them into the walls and the neighbouring flat
- Get rid of cardboard delivery boxes rather than stacking them in cupboards
