Where Wasps Nest on a Kenton House
A queen that has overwintered alone wants a dry cavity behind a small opening, with weathered timber nearby to chew into paper. The overhanging eaves of these tiled roofs hide a continuous void behind the soffit, and fascia joints, the corner where a roof runs out over a rear extension, and gaps left when a loft conversion went in all lead into it.
Inside the loft itself
Plenty of Kenton lofts are half storeroom, reached by a hatch on the landing. A nest built up there hangs from a rafter or sits on the insulation, and it is usually found by somebody going up in August for something they last touched at Christmas. - Do not push filler, tape or wire wool into the hole, because wasps cut off from their doorway work their way inwards instead
- Do not fire a shop-bought aerosol up into the eaves or down into a hole in the lawn
- Stay off ladders at eaves height, and away from the loft hatch if the nest is above it

Fewer Wasps on a Kenton Roof Next Spring
