Where Wasps Nest on a Neasden Semi

Air bricks in the bottom of the wall
Houses of this age have air bricks low in the wall to ventilate the floor void, and wasps will treat one slot of a grille as a front door. The giveaway is steady traffic into a single opening near the ground while the rest of the grille is ignored. Do not plug it. Garages, sheds and felt roofs
Side garages, lock-up garages and the sheds at the bottom of Neasden gardens stay dry and undisturbed for weeks on end. Nests hang under the felt of a shed or garage roof, sit behind stacked pots, or fill the space above a garage ceiling board. Often the workers give it away first: wasps scraping a pale line along an old fence panel are collecting wood fibre, and the nest is usually within a short flight.

- Do not spray an aerosol into the entrance from a ladder or shed doorway
- Do not run a mower, strimmer or hedge trimmer anywhere near a ground nest
